In celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Snake, the British Columbia Chinese Music Association (BCCMA) presents a Concert and Tea Party, Bamboo Shoots in Spring, performed by the BC Chinese Music Ensemble featuring new music and arrangements by conductor and composers Rui Shi Zhuo, John Oliver, and producer Mark Armanini.

Oliver will conduct his composition
Eagle Flies to Mountain, a work Georgia Straight reviewer Alex Varty said “deserves to become an intercultural standard.”

In celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Snake, the British Columbia Chinese Music Association (BCCMA) presents a Concert and Tea Party, Bamboo Shoots in Spring, performed by the BC Chinese Music Ensemble.  The events also highlight the 10th Anniversary of BCCME, one of the largest professional Chinese music ensembles in North America. 

Rui Shi Zhuo, John Oliver, and Producer Mark Armanini. The concert features composers and musiciansMei Han, Randy Raine– Reusch, Gui Lian Liu, Francois Houle, Zhi-Min Yu, and Song Yun.
The repertoire includes Canadian and Chinese works performed or commissioned in the past 10 years, Vancouver Premieres, and new arrangements by conductor and composers

The Bamboo Shoots in Spring concert will be recorded for a CD to be released in the Fall, 2013.  Both events will be at CBC Studios: 700 Hamilton Street, Vancouver.
Tea Party: February 3, at 2 – 6 pm.  $5.00 includes tea and refreshments, entertainment by BC Chinese Music Ensemble, rare DVD presentation on Chinese musical history.
