This concert at the Conservatoire de musique de Montreal Concert Hall features Bruce Mather on the 16th of tone piano performing the world premiere of the third instalment of my Hot-Tempered Clavier work. Dr. Mather will also perform the first two Preludes and Fantasies which I composed for him in 2005. For aficionados of Bach's Well-Tempered Klavier, these works are recompositions of the Bach originals, reduced to various microtonal divisions of the one-octave 96-division piano (8 steps between each semitone on a standard piano). It is an amazing sound: an mind-altering journey through Bach's original, often rendering completely new experiences of line and harmony.
